Uttar Pradesh government reviews law and order

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday began a review of the law and order situation in the state, an official discussed.

The state government has formed a seven-member committee which will oversee the review of all police zones on Thursday, starting from Kanpur and Jhansi zones. The review will be done through video-conferencing.

IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said that a 22-point agenda has been dispatched to district police chiefs as the review was going to be "threadbare and exhaustive."

In the second phase, Agra and Meerut zones would be taken up. The law and order situation in Agra will be reviewed on February 12 and Meerut on February 19.

The committee includes Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda and Director General of Police A K Jain. 

Law and order situation in Bareilly zone will be reviewed on February 27.

Himalaya Darshan programme to begin next week

Dehradun : The Chief Secretary N Ravishankar speaking with the group from National Defense College said that the number of tourist coming to Uttarakhand had reduced owing to the disaster in the year 2013. We are extending the message of Uttarakhand being a safe state. Winter Yatra has also commenced. Himalaya Darshan will begin from next week. Pilgrim will be able to reach the Chaar Dhaam at a minimal cost.

The Chief Secretary said that the work of rehabilitation is happening at a fast pace and helipads are being formed to deal with disaster like situation. Helipads have been constructed to deal with any disaster like situation.  Along with religious tourism, adventure sports and wellness tourism is also being encouraged.  Uttarakhand is maintaining a balance between environment conservation and development. Panchayat system is being strengthened. Small hydel project will be constructed by Panchayats.Work of permanent nature for Ardh Kumbha 2016 has begun. 
The group from NDC which is visiting the state to inspect praised the rehabilitation work being carried out in the state. He added that the tourists coming to Uttarakhand must be registered online. Hill aviation task must also begin. He also said that the work of bio metric registration has already begun. To strengthen, aerial services, helipads and helidromes are being constructed in distant areas.
Present in the meeting were Additional CS S Raju, Principal Secretary Home MH Khan, Principal Secretary Forest and environment Ranveer Singh, Secretary Tourism Umakant Panwar, Secretary Urban development DS Gabryal, Secretary Home Vinod Sharma, Secretary Disaster management Bhaskaranand and other senior officials.

The 2015 Winter Ski Carnival from 22 to 25 February

Dehradun : The Winter Ski Carnival and Open Championship will be held from 22 to 25 February, 2015 at Auli under the aegis of Winter Games Association, Uttarakhand, Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, and the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. 

Providing this information, Secretary, Tourism, Dr Umakant Panwar said today that the Carnival and Championship would not only boost tourism in Uttarakhand, but also acquaint tourists from all around the country to the many dimensions of tourism in the state. Tourists could reach Joshimath by road, from where Asia’s longest ropeway could be used to reach Auli. The re-opening of the Ropeway has increased the allure of Auli among the skiers coming to enjoy the excellent skiing slopes of the resort. The excellent snowfall this year has delighted skiers and local people. As compared to earlier years, the abundance of snow will make it easier to hold the skiing competitions.
It may be noted that skiing competitions are held at only three places in the country – Manali in Himachal Pradesh, Gulmarg in J&K, and Auli, Uttarakhand. Such events are held every year in Uttarakhand to promote adventure tourism.
Skiing enthusiasts will be motivated to visit Auli to participate in the Winter Ski Carnival & Open Championship.
